Why it’s not about proving to others?

We are here to live our passion, goals, and purpose of our lives. There's a saying that you cannot force someone to change their perception about something, the best that you can do is to be the change in the world and if people vibe in with the change that you have created, then that will have an impact on their perception and the by-product of which in their lives.

It’s not about proving anyone anything, because that gives liberty to other people to affect you with praise or criticism or tamper with your thought process, the only thing that we need to prove to ourselves is that we will live up to our purpose in life with the best impact that we can create.

I heard a person saying: He never looked up to someone or looked down on anyone By this principle the following things would result in one's mind:

  • You respect someone less fortunate than you in terms of resources.

  • You won't feel less than someone more fortunate than someone in terms of resources.

  • You believe in your own identity as unique and your thoughts as well.

Similarly, you could think of many other reasons which could flourish through the incorporation of this principle in one's life.

Why it’s about being better than one’s self and not than others?

When we compare one thing with another we find something to be better or worse, long or short, beauty vs ugly, successful vs unsuccessful etc. It’s not that you are better or worse than someone else, it’s about the different time clocks that individuals carry E.g You may live till 80 someones may live till 30, and if you believe in multiple births then you may have taken 10 births someone may have taken 20, We look different, The way we perceive things are different, Everyone's approach to solving problems is different, Each and everyone is born with some unique abilities that no other individual posses, So it’s about amplifying one’s abilities to the best.

When we compare ourselves with someone else we bind ourselves to a limitation, We think the abilities of the person in front of us are what we want to achieve in our lives which is being limited VS Being limitless and without boundaries when we compare to our previous self.

Incident - During my High School days, I competed with a friend who used to score 70%.

I was in the (60 - 63)% category, so I always wanted to beat him and I thought 70% is my bar to cross but I failed to cross him.

One day I decided to stop this mentality and start focusing on the best that I could on myself and that lead me to score 78% in my 12th boards. This gave me a practical example in my life to stick to this principle.
